The scene where Jack and Rollergirl are in Jack's Cadillac shooting "On the Lookout" was inspired by Jamie Gillis's groundbreaking "On the Prowl" series which started in 1989. Gillis stated in a 2007 interview that he was "horrified" when he saw that work parodied in Boogie Nights. He added, "Oh my god, they're taking my little joy, my little treasure, and...making it ugly and stupid and violent. And that's not what it was to me."
