Oddball mentions that his tanks are equipped with the 'regular 76mm' gun. While 76mm gun-armed Shermans had appeared in France in July 1944, most Shermans in the European Theter in September 1944 would still be equipped with the original 75mm gun, and the 76mm remained relatively new and rare. They would most likely not be referred to as 'regular'. Furthermore, Oddball's tanks are equipped with the standard 75mm Sherman tank turret instead of the U.S. 76mm T23 turret, making them look more like 75mm tanks than 76mm ones save for the 76mm gun's longer barrel, which in turn identifies it as a post-war export M4A3E4 Sherman model that would not have been seen in World War II. This was somewhat covered-up in the film as Oddball says that he added pipes to the guns to make them look more intimidating, but this does not cover for his previous 'regular 76mm' remark.
