Simon McBurney (Oliver Lacon) has played many other characters throughout his career involved in some form of espionage, specifically in The Manchurian Candidate (2004), as a scientist practicing secret techniques; in L'ultimo re di Scozia (2006), as a British diplomat; in Nessuna verità (2008), as a computer whiz employed by the C.I.A.; in Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015), as the head of MI6; and in Allied: Un'ombra nascosta (2016), as an S.O.E. Official.
