Dr Franken Von Folger was named after Dr Victor Frankenstein, who created a creation that went out of control and caused destruction (in this case, the Shizuma drive which caused the Tragedy of Bashtarle). His name is also a play on The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)'s character Dr Franken Furter (who forms the crux of the story, as in this series).
