The network premiere of this film brings "Star Trek" full circle. Star Trek (1966) aired on the NBC network from 1966-69, as did Star Trek (1973) from 1973-74. The first four films premiered on ABC-TV, and Star Trek V - L'ultima frontiera (1989) on CBS-TV (which acquired the rights to the Star Trek brand in 2006), following with the last film starring the original cast premiering back on original network NBC.
