When Jackson breaks down in shame in front of Ally during her visit with him at rehab, if one looks closely you can see he is dry crying. Bradley Cooper couldn't get the tears to flow during that take, but as director determined that it was the truth of the moment that Jackson could not have a good cry even though he wanted to.
