Lionel was the first Jefferson shown on tv. Lionel (Mike Evans) appears in the very first episode of All in the family, even before Archie does. Louise/Isabel Sanford does not appear until Season 1 Episode 8 "Lionel Moves Into the Neighborhood" (1971), although the character of Lionel appeared in both unused All in the Family pilots, the first one shot in 1968. And George/Sherman Hemsley doesn't debut until Season 4 episode 3 "Henry's Farewell".
