Because of copyright issues, there are several incarnations (including VHS) that replaced Tom Petty's "American Girl" with a sort of funky/goofy instrumental track, which demeaned the scene given that with Petty's song, Stacy Hamilton's first day at school (she's playing the American Girl) wasn't orchestrated.
