Daredevil was intended to get his own animated series in 1982. Partnered with a German shepherd seeing-eye dog named Lightning the Super Dog, Mark Evanier produced a series bible and pilot script with concept art by John Romita, Sr. The series was picked up at ABC and announced to be in development when an ABC executive used a Frank Miller cover of the Daredevil comic depicting the character with a firearm to kill the project.
