The film is included on the film critic Roger Ebert's "Most Hated" list. In his scathing review (which spoiled almost the entire movie), he repeatedly lampooned the fact that objects like doors make slamming noises (even when not moved), the lack of scientific logic, and the graceless ways the zombies move in ("they walk with the lurching shuffle of a drunk trying to skate through urped Slurpees to the men's room"). The only praise he had was for the laser corridor sequence.
