Homeland Security Director (and Erie native) Tom Ridge, then the governor of Pennsylvania, visited the set during production and presented Tom Hanks with a Zippo lighter that was engraved with the film's logo (Hanks collects Zippos, which are manufactured in Pennsylvania).
