Pita's dog is named Sam, ostensibly named after her father, Samuel, but also a reference to the original 1987 film (Kidnapping - Pericolo in agguato (1987)). In that film, which is set in Italy, the girl who John Creasy is hired to protect is named Samantha "Sam" Balletto. Also, coincidentally, Dakota Fanning played a part in the movie Mi chiamo Sam (2001) which is how Tony Scott realized he wanted her in this one.
