In the DVD commentary, Blake Edwards speaks of his once famous grandfather James Gordon Edwards, who had directed all the epic films for Fox Studios in the 1920s. Blake then explains that none ever picked up on his own homage to Hitchcock in the chase scene in which 4 cars and a pantomime horse prevent an elderly man from crossing the road, which he lifted from the film Foreign Correspondent (1940). Then says that the old man in the scene had been his grandfather's property master at Fox.
