In the show Mathew Baynton's Character cannot drive a manual transmission while James Corden's character can. In real life Mat can drive manual and James can't. For filming Mat had to pretend to be unable to drive manual and numerous automatic transmission cars had to be acquired last minute so James could drive them in scenes.
