A running joke throughout the series is Dietrich's propensity for sharing formidable esoteric knowledge while revealing very little about his personal life. He does, however, occasionally imply being some otherworldly being - an eons-old alien during a lie detector test (which indicates he's telling the truth), the devil himself when Harris says he'd sell his soul for a vacation ("I thought you looked familiar"), etcetera.
