Part of the plot involves a mystical Egyptian scarab artifact. In the Marvel comics, the Egyptian archaeologist and superhero the Scarlet Scarab was empowered by a ruby scarab. The Scarab's real identity was archaeologist Abdul Faoul, who appears in one episode under the name of Abdullah El-Faouly.
