Joey Lawrence explained that regarding his iconic catchphrase "Whoa!", the producers initially wanted it to be read in a surfer dude tone. When it came to taping night he claimed nobody in the audience was laughing at the line and it wasn't funny. Don Reo pulled Lawrence aside and told him to try something else because what he told him to do wasn't working. Lawrence redid the scene and said the one word phrase again in a more lively energetic tone and the audience went crazy. Lawrence said the audience laughed for over 20 seconds that he couldn't even finish the rest of his dialogue for the scene.
