Beginning in the third season, the Seinfeld logo changed slightly each season. Season eight had a black-and-white checker design around the title because Jerry Seinfeld believed this was going to be the final season of the series. It was meant to resemble the checkered flag at an auto racing event, which signifies the end of the race.
