Arnold Schwarzenegger demanded, as a condition to his participation in the movie, that at least an hour of time was blocked off everyday so he could work out and that a fully equipped gym was provided to him. When he arrived to Astoria and noticed there was no gym provided to him, he threatened to drop out of the film. A group of local Astoria businessmen cobbled together equipment and put it in the gymnasium of Astoria High School in order to make sure Arnold Schwarzenegger wouldn't leave.
