Alejandro has changed his last name from Murrietta to de la Vega. "Alejandro Vega" had been the name of the original Zorro Diego Vega's father in the first-ever Zorro story by Johnston McCulley "The Curse of Capistrano," which was the source material for Il segno di Zorro (1920).
