During filming, John Belushi would often go to local nightclubs to check out the various bands. He was fascinated by a musician named Curtis Salgado. Salgado's sunglasses, harp playing, and love of the blues, inspired Belushi to form The Blues Brothers with fellow Il Saturday Night Live (1975) cast member Dan Aykroyd.
