When Sir John and Lawrence fight in their transformed states, Sir John tears off his shirt while Lawrence retains his clothing beyond what was damaged as he changed. This basically reflects their contrasting attitudes towards their curses, with Sir John revelling in the power of the beast while Lawrence prefers to hold on to enough of his humanity so that he's not quite the indiscriminate monster his father was.
