When Sheriff Meadows discovers the attic where Frank Weaver and his youngest son are kept, he also discovers what is left of Frank's body after the Wendigo has emerged, an effect that would be handled by the team at Legacy Effects. Shane Mahan wanted to come up with an interesting look for the body. "I was looking at dried pieces of leather and translucent amber. So I thought that'd be actually a really interesting way to go. So we took a body form mold and put colored resin inside of it and pulled it out while it was [partially cured] and then tore it open and let it kind of harden and then started to put skeletal pieces into it." This approach gave the Frank body a kind of broken and burnt look. "Mark Killingsworth worked with me a lot on it." says Mahan. "It was not like a traditional silicone dead body but something truly strange. He marvels, "You could shine your flashlight through it."
