According to Facts of Life star, in her series of parenting books, Lisa Welchel says she endorses the controversial "hot saucing" method for disciplining kids; where you place hot sauce of some sort, tabasco, siracha, Pickapeppa or Texas Pete, on the child's tongue to induce a slight bit of pain and discomfort; just slight enough to teach them a lesson. However, critics complained this is tantamount to child abuse, creating physical pain in your child to control them. Lisa Welchel said the following in response to the criticism.; "Whelchel says she would have never used hot sauce to discipline her three children if it caused lasting damage. The actress-turned-home-schooling mom suggests using just a dab of hot sauce, placing it on your finger, then touching your finger to the child's tongue."
