Was one of three sequels released during the Christmas season of 1993 to a box office hit of the previous year in 1992. The other two sequels were Wayne's World 2 (1993) and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993) both of which were released a week before this film. Although Beethoven's 2nd did not perform as well as Sister Act 2, it surprisingly made more money domestically than Wayne's World 2 which was predicted to be the most successful sequel of the holiday season. Ultimately Beethoven defeated Wayne at the box office the second time around bringing in $53 million domestically while Wayne only managed to bring in $48 million. Sister Act 2 finished with $57 million which ironically was the domestic gross of the first Beethoven film in 1992.
