Han Sung Kang apparently dies when his car explodes due to a fuel leak. However, in Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and Fast & Furious 7 (2015), it is revealed that the accident itself had not caused the explosion. Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) blew up Han's car in retaliation for his brother's near-death. In Fast & Furious 9 - The Fast Saga (2021), this is further retconned to show Han faking his death in the accident with the aid of Kurt Russells Mr. Nobody.
