The response from writer Nelson Greaves and director Levan Gabriadze is that the characters in question like much of current teenagers don't because they are addicted. The film answers that the six victims of billie227 do not abandon their areas and flee for help as the force threatening them holds control over each of their respective environments. This breaks the initial concept of the Ghost in the Machine vice of the films' omnipresent killer.
