Though the regulars never assembled for a reunion show, a sequel surfaced in the form of Mary and Rhoda (2000), a made-for-TV film featuring Mary Richards and Rhoda Morgenstern, but no other characters from the original cast. Cloris Leachman, offended that she was not invited to participate, comically picketed the production during shooting. Actually there was a reunion show in 1991, The Mary Tyler Moore 20th Anniversary Special, which aired on CBS, which saw most of the original cast reunite and comment on old clips. The only principal who wasn't there was Ted Knight who passed away from cancer in 1986.
