Luca's surname, Paguro, is Italian for "hermit crab". Which is reflective of his sheltered life at the beginning of the film and the reluctance of his parents to let him venture above the surface. It also foreshadows how Luca will eventually come out of his shell and reveal his true self as well as the fact that he'll be comfortable living in different surroundings than he grew up in.
