The famous theme music was not used during season one. That season was not syndicated with the rest of the series, so few people had seen it before it was released on DVD. Some of the background music in the black and white episodes used jazz-influenced cues, but other times sounded like a cartoon soundtrack. The color episodes used pop-influenced background music, some of which was also used on the TV series Gidget (1965), as both shows had the same music supervisor.
