In every scene where James wears the bomb-proof kevlar suit, it is actually Jeremy Renner in the shot. Temperatures on set were routinely over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the producers had originally planned to use doubles for some shots to reduce the risk of Renner getting heatstroke in the heavy suit. However director Kathryn Bigelow felt that none of the doubles could duplicate Renner's distinctive walk. So even in extreme long shots, it's really him.
