Jane Curtain said in an Emmy TV Legends Interview she did not like doing this show a lot of the time; because, since the comedy on the show was so mean and confrontational a lot of the time; people on the street would be mean and confrontational to her; and she found that stressful and painful. She recounted one incident in the late 70s when she was sitting at a restaurant with her family and a group of men just cut her to shreds with insults. (She said Gilda Radner had it much worse with confrontational fans). She said being on Kate and Allie was much more fun because the fan audience was warmer; they would greet her with hugs, not insults.
