The first time Major Childs (Hilary Swank) meets with the General she is wearing silver oak leaves on her shoulders. Silver oak leaves signify a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army and Air Force (Commander in the Navy). This error is corrected later at the conference when she meets the scientists where she is shown wearing the correct gold colored oak leaves signifying the rank of Major (Lieutenant Commander in the Navy)
