Series trademark: Twilight Zone. Most if not all entries in the Madagascar/Penguins series contain an homage to Rod Serling's original Ai confini della realtà (1959). In this one, Dave says "The monsters are due in Manhattan," a variation of the title of Ai confini della realtà: The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street (1960). Also, the "you maniacs" speech from Il pianeta delle scimmie (1968), a movie partly written by Serling, is paraphrased by characters in both this movie and the original Madagascar (2005).
