Greg Stilson is played by Sean Patrick Flanery, best known for playing the young Indiana Jones. That character was originally played in Indiana Jones e l'ultima crociata (1989) by River Phoenix. Phoenix and his cast mate Bradley Gregg previously appeared together in another Stephen King adaptation, Stand by Me - Ricordo di un'estate (1986). In the film La zona morta (1983), Johnny and Greg are played by Christopher Walken and Martin Sheen, who appeared together in another Steven Spielberg film, Prova a prendermi (2002).
