In France, there are no canned laugh-tracks---as this would be culturally offensive, to be told when to laugh--and, so, the series is not considered a comedy over there. Its genre is as it was dubbed---a romance-adventure series, giving it quite a different angle and feel than its original American version. This, in spite of its French title, "La croisière s'amuse", which translates to either "the cruise enjoys itself" or "the cruise has fun".
