Elijah Wood was considered for the role of Thomas J, but because of the huge popularity of Mamma, ho perso l'aereo (1990) Macaulay Culkin was deemed more bankable and was given the part instead. Wood and Culkin later starred together in L'innocenza del diavolo (1993).
