The trajectory of character Todd Lang, played by Aaron Dean Eisenberg, strongly resembles that of Calvin Culver aka Casey Donovan. Like the fictional Lang, Culver did some mainstream modeling in New York, appeared in some off-Broadway productions, appeared in Boys in the Sand (1971), and who suffered from AIDS later in life. Culver is generally considered to be the first major gay porn star.
