The plot line about James Bond having left the service and being asked for help has already been used as a story element in the non-series James Bond parody James Bond 007 - Casino Royale (1967) which was suggested by Ian Fleming's first novel of the same name. Ironically, the first James Bond movie Daniel Craig starred in was in fact the 'Casino Royale' (2006) remake.
