This is Pixar's first original film since Il viaggio di Arlo (2015) and Coco (2017). Every Pixar film since 2016 (with the exception of Coco) has been a sequel to one of their previously existing franchises like Alla ricerca di Dory (2016), Cars 3 (2017), Gli Incredibili 2 (2018) and Toy Story 4 (2019).
