Most of the music for Dark Shadows (1966) was composed by Robert Cobert. In fact, many of the music cues later introduced during the run of the show, as well as what would become Quentin's Theme and the Pansy Faye song "I'm Gonna Dance for You," were first composed by Cobert for The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1968), starring Jack Palance, and produced by Dan Curtis. The future Quentin's Theme and "I'm Gonna Dance for You," were played differently in that production and were background music. The exceptions were a few instrumental songs played on the jukebox at the Blue Whale, and performed by various artists, and the original Josette's Theme, which was by Robert Farnon, and borrowed from ABC's stock music catalog before Cobert composed a new Josette's Theme.
