Much like in Scream 3 (2000), Sidney Prescott is not prominently featured in the first part of the film. However, her diminished appearance in the third film was simply because Neve Campbell's availability only amounted to three weeks, while in this film, it's so that she can pass the torch onto Sam Carpenter, the new lead.
