Ian Holm has played Napoleon several times, a role he shares with Marlon Brando. Brando appeared in Il padrino (1972), which won Best Picture, as did Il Signore degli Anelli - Il ritorno del re (2003). Both of their characters had a prequel devoted to them (this trilogy, and Il padrino - Parte II (1974)), in which they are played by a younger actor. Both actors' final film paired them with that actor. Brando and De Niro appeared together in The Score (2001), and even shared scenes together. This film featured both Ian Holm and Martin Freeman, though they don't share any scenes together. However, Holm had previously played Frodo, and shared many of his scenes as Bilbo with Elijah Wood.
