Tom Cruise's bartending training was held at The Bartending School in Toronto, Ontario. At one point the instructor refused to teach Cruise how to flip bottles and glasses, because in a real bar setting, that would be too high of a risk for damage and a huge potential for lawsuits. Finally, plastic bottles were given to Cruise on the set. Numerous retakes had to be done because of the constant miscatches and dropping of glassware and bottles.
