The three-triangle logo of the Weyland corporation (while visually similar to that of the actual Weinstein Group) was meant to be a cross between the hieroglyph-like title in the opening credits of Alien (1979), and the Weyland-Yutani logo appearing on the wall in Aliens - Scontro finale (1986) (which in itself was based on an early Ron Cobb design for the original film). The logo can also be seen as part of David's fingerprint. The colorful rainbow-like ship uniform patches seen on the Nostromo crew in the original film were changed to much darker equivalents for the Prometheus uniform, to emphasize Prometheus as a "fallen angel".
