Joyce Byers's 1976 Ford Pinto is mention worthy, because the lawsuit Indiana v. Ford Motor Company became the downfall of the Ford Pinto. In 1978, a '73 Ford Pinto was rear-ended in Osceola, Indiana, burst into flames and killed three teenage girls. While Ford won the lawsuit, the Pinto's demise was the result.
