The reason Colin Trevorrow didn't direct this movie was because after Jurassic World (2015), Lucasfilm signed him to close out the new Star Wars trilogy by directing Star Wars - L'ascesa di Skywalker (2019), but fell in the wake of Trevorrow's box-office bomb Il libro di Henry (2017). Lucasfilm parted ways with Trevorrow, although he claims that the decision likely wasn't based on Book of Henry (2017), since it was reported that he had been having creative disagreements with Lucasfilm over the Star Wars script for some time. Nonetheless, Book of Henry (2017) was a very disappointing follow up to a movie as huge as Jurassic World (2015). It's actually ironic as Star Wars - Il risveglio della Forza (2015) director J.J. Abrams took over Trevorrow's duties on Star Wars: Episode IX (2019) to close out that trilogy, after handling the reigns to Rian Johnson for Star Wars - Gli ultimi Jedi (2017), and now Trevorrow is returning to his own franchise to bookend it.
