Mukul Anand said he knew the film would be a disaster from day one. Dharmendra wanted the film to be another "10 Commandments". Mukul Anand wanted it to be like a regular Hindi film. Arjun Hingorani's main interest was the American version. Arjun spent 40 lakhs on making arrangements for the American crew but he did not get permission from the Indian government for them to shoot in India. When the Indian intelligence caught on that that the American crew of 23 was India without a government notice, they denied them permission to shoot and they had to go back. Arjun Hingorani's argument was that he was a Indian producer and he did not need permission. At this point Mukul Anand had two choices. Leave the film or alter the script and start shooting. If the film got shelved ,Arjun Hingorani would have lost 80 lakhs. Somehow Mukul made a few compromises and completed the film. Mukul stated that just after shooting only 30 days ,he knew the film would be a disaster. Mukul felt that entire subject had been compromised. The American version was titled "Chasing The Sword". It was the sword of the Prophet and was suppose to have supernatural powers which made the man wielding it turn superhuman. But everything was changed, there was no sword. Still the distributors liked the film and bought it. The producer sold it at the expected price in every territory. It was the distributors who lost heavy when the film crashed. Hingorani would go on and blame Mukul Anand for the end product. Arjun claimed that Mukul went over budget. He also complained that Mukul did not shoot the film the way he it was suppose to be made.
