Before sending Marty back to 1885, Doc mentions that he uses the drive-in theater so Marty doesn't run into a tree that existed in the past. In Ritorno al futuro (1985), one of the first things Marty does in 1955 is run into farmer Peabody's pine tree that existed in the past.
