In one of the early scripts, the Company was called the Weyland-Tyrell Company, suggesting a merger between Peter Weyland's firm and the Tyrell Company from Blade Runner (1982), confirming that both the Alien and Blade Runner movies occur in a shared universe. Roy Batty (played by Rutger Hauer in Blade Runner) would even be featuring as one of Peter Weyland's secret bodyguards on board the Prometheus.
